What is VetTriage?
VetTriage is a convenient and affordable after-hours veterinary video telehealth platform. Licensed veterinarians are available around the clock to help assess your pet over a video call and help determine if your pet is experiencing a true emergency, or if their condition is stable enough to wait until we are open again.
How do I access the VetTriage veterinarians?
You can click/tap here, or click the “Emergency Services” button at the top right of our home page. This will take you to the VetTriage website. Enter your information and credit card details, and you will be connected with a VetTriage veterinarian within minutes. If you are unable to do a video chat, you can call 1-800-940-1921 to have a phone consultation instead. Both English- and Spanish-speaking veterinarians are available.
What is the cost to use VetTriage?
The cost to speak with a VetTriage veterinarian is $50. If your pet does need to come in for urgent care, there will be additional emergency, exam and diagnostic fees.
What happens if the VetTriage veterinarian determines my pet is having an emergency?
The VetTriage veterinarian will contact the local veterinarian who is on call that night/weekend/holiday and will arrange for us to see your pet urgently at the clinic. We do share emergency duties with two other clinics in town, so it may be one of their doctors who you will be seeing and at their clinic. Rest assured, the other clinics we have partnered with have the same commitment to compassionate, quality medicine as we do.
What happens if the VetTriage veterinarian determines that my pet is NOT having an
emergency that requires immediate treatment?
If you and the VetTriage veterinarian determine that your pet does not require immediate treatment, they will give you safe advice and home monitoring instructions so you can care for your pet at home until our clinic is open to schedule an appointment. At the end of the video call, they will email you a call summary with their recommendations, and also send a copy to us.
Why was this change made?
There has been a dramatic shift in supply and demand in the veterinary field over the past few decades, and this shift was accelerated by the 2020 pandemic. We could not be happier that more pets are finding their forever homes! However, this rate of adoption has placed significant strain on the limited veterinary staff we have, and has also increased the number of calls we receive after hours for medical emergencies and non-emergent medical issues. We value the culture in our clinic, as well as the mental and physical health of our team members. By partnering with VetTriage, we prevent unnecessary travel and cost to you, and it allows our team to get the much-needed rest they need so we can continue to provide the exceptional, compassionate care you are used to receiving during our regular hours
